Stuart Denney:

Stuart Denney

Stuart Jon Denney, described as "creative" "cheeky" and "confident" by friends appears to be totally wired for the creation and performance of music. Being able to play dozens of instruments certainly helps.

Since the age of 13 he has been driven to "express myself and observe" through music. His quest was interrupted briefly to enjoy the student lifestyle, securing an Economics degree through Loughborough University, before returning to his hometown of Chelmsford, Essex.

Now 25, Stuart is one half of Shy June, who have been steadily building their reputation as a truly dynamic duo, delivering a rare unique fusion of embryonic, melodic, acoustic rock.

Stuart's main influence musically has been The Beatles; his desert island album choice being "The White Album" and the song he most wishes he'd written is Paul McCartney's "Ram On". In December 2008 he met the man himself, as Sir Paul spent time with fans in London.

Gareth Edler:

Gareth Edler

Gareth William Jack Edler is the other half of Shy June. Of a more circumspect nature; Gareth was born in the same hospital ward as Stuart 25 years ago (both in June, naturally!).

Gareth was also smitten in his early teens by music; his first favourite album being Supertramp's classic "Breakfast in America". He's expanded his repertoire in the intervening years, picking up a whole host of instruments. However, the guitar remains his favourite.

His musical inspiration comes from a wide variety of genres and artists, with his desert island album being Jeff Buckley's sublime "Grace". Also special to him is the music of Oasis. He admitted that the one song he wishes he'd written is "Talk Tonight" by Manchester's finest.

Gareth takes an active interest in current affairs, recent history and his social conscience is never far from the surface. Whilst often aggrieved by "man's inhumanity to man", he remains optimistic that "it will not always be like this." For him music provides not only his passion, but also a tantalising glimpse of what that world might look like.
